The Rolling Stones have announced some world class support acts…

There has been a mad clamour for The Rolling Stones tickets the past few weeks as fans endeavour to see the band on what could be one of their last ever tours, standing at over 60 years in the business. Now, the competition for tickets may have just gone up a gear, as The Rolling Stones have announced some stand-out acts will be supporting them on tour this year.

Of course, to support a group like The Stones, who helped birth the new generation of rock’n’roll in the 60’s, you’d expect other acts who have been pushing the boundaries of music in their own fields, which is why you’ll be able to see Liam GallagherFlorence and the Machine, The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, The VaccinesThe SpecialsJames Bay and Elbow opening up for them.

Liam’s opening set comes following an incredible year for him, having made his solo debut late last year with As You Were, propelling him into the #1 slot across the charts and leading onto a sell-out arena tour and an array of festival appearances this Summer.

Florence & the Machine are gearing up for their fourth studio album High as Hope, said to be coming out this June so might be able to catch some of it during their performances, whilst Ashcroft – who last released These People in 2016 – will be meeting up with Gallagher again this summer to open two shows for him in Dublin and Belfast.

The Vaccines have recently finished their headlining tour after coming out with Combat Sports earlier this year, like Elbow who released their seventh studio album Little Fictions in 2017. Now in their third reunion, The Specials have been touring on and off in the past ten years playing from their 80’s and 90’s back catalogue of music, whilst relative newcomer James Bay has been on the rise following his critically acclaimed debut Chaos and the Calm, earning him three Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song.

The support acts will be playing different shows as listed below, in a tour that will see the band perform like never before in the UK and Ireland. “This part of the No Filter tour is really special for the Stones. We are looking forward to getting back onstage in the summer and playing to fans in the UK and Ireland. It’s always exhilarating going to cities we haven’t played for quite awhile.” said frontman Mick Jagger.

Keith Richards added: “It’s such a joy to play with this band. There’s no stopping us, we’re only just getting started, really.”
